Barry I. Finkel is a veteran family law and divorce attorney and experienced litigator singularly focused on his clients and achieving outstanding results. He began his practice in Fort Lauderdale / Broward County, Florida, in 1983. He is recognized as one of the finest matrimonial lawyers in South Florida.
Mr. Finkel’s experience in the areas of divorce and family law allows the firm to expertly advise clients on the entire marital cycle, from premarital and post-marital agreements, to complex litigation, marital estate valuation, equitable distribution of assets and liabilities, alimony child support and post-divorce enforcement and modifications. His knowledge, expertise and experience help clients manage their lives before, during and after divorce.
Though sensitive to the emotional and financial considerations of his clients, Barry works tirelessly and aggressively and enjoys a reputation as a tough and successful legal force in South Florida.
A long-time Broward County resident, Barry is a family man and contributes to the community. He brings a foundation of family stability to each case. A father of three children, Barry knows the importance of preventing a divorce from causing serious, irreparable damage to the family.
Barry received his Bachelors of Science in Management from Tulane University (1980) and his Juris Doctor from Nova Southeastern University School of Law (1983). He is admitted to the Florida Bar and all courts of this state, U.S. District Court, Southern District of Florida, the US Court of Appeals, 11th Circuit. A respected leader among his peers, Barry was a Member of the Judicial Nominating Committee, 4th District Court of Appeals, and held the posts of Chair of the Family Law Section of the Broward County Bar Association, and its Bench Bar Liaison Committee. He also served as a Director of the Broward County Bar Association, and as a Member of The Florida Bar’s Grievance Committee.
Barry is AV-rated by Martindale Hubble, the organization’s highest possible rating. In more than 25 years of practice in South Florida, his clients, colleagues and peers have grown to respect Barry’s depth of knowledge in Family Law – and his experience in the courtroom and in the mediation and negotiation process. He also was named by the South Florida Legal Guide as a top Family Law Attorney.
Elizabeth is an accomplished Family Law Attorney and family mediator who prides herself in her ability to settle complex cases without the need for prolonged litigation. Ms. Edwards is a partner at the law offices of Barry I Finkel P.A.
Ms. Edwards is AV Rated by Martindale-Hubbell, and was named by Super Lawyers as a Rising Star in Family Law for 2017, 2018, 2019, and 2020. Rising Star is a Super Lawyers designation for attorneys who are under the age of 40, for which no more than 2.5% of attorneys are awarded this honor.
As an attorney, Ms. Edwards focuses her law practice in the areas of Family, Matrimonial, and Divorce Law, including dissolution of marriage, timesharing, child support, spousal support, prenuptial and postnuptial agreements, paternity, and post-judgment issues of modification and enforcement in Broward and Palm Beach County, Florida.
Ms. Edwards is an experienced Supreme Court Certified Family Mediator who mediates family cases for parties who are represented by attorneys and for parties who do not have attorneys.
Ms. Edwards is also trained as a Collaborative Family Law Attorney and as a Parenting Coordinator.

With Baccalaureate degree in Social Work from Cornell University and a Law Degree from Brooklyn Law School, Mara began her career in 1988 as divorce litigation attorney with a preeminent New York City Divorce Law firm, representing celebrities and public figures in high asset divorce and child custody matters.
Presently, Mara is the Managing Partner of the Boca Raton office of The Law Offices of Barry I. Finkel, PA, a Marital and Family Law firm with offices in Ft Lauderdale and Boca Raton. Mara’s practice focuses exclusively on divorce, child custody and relocation, equitable distribution, alimony, child support and Prenuptial and Postnuptial Agreements.
Mara understands that divorce and family law matters are not “one size fits all”. For this reason, Mara assesses her client’s needs, objectives and goals and clearly lays out a strategy and legal approach designed to create positive results for her clients while minimizing the impacts of divorce. In addition to her years as a seasoned divorce litigator, Mara is an accredited and well-regarded Collaborative Divorce Attorney and trained Divorce Mediator. Mara is also a Guardian Ad Litem representing the rights of children in high conflict divorce cases.
